As Chief Executive, I would like to welcome you to the website for QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland).
The site has been designed to be viewable on all platforms: desktop, tablet and smartphones. It includes ‘QHelp’ and ‘QSearch’ facilities which we hope will assist visitors to the site in finding what they are looking for more easily.
QQI was established in November 2012. Our mission is to promote the enhancement of quality in Ireland’s further and higher education and training; to quality assure providers of education and training; and to support and promote a qualifications system that benefits learners and other stakeholders.
We are responsible for the external quality assurance of further and higher education and training in Ireland. We validate programmes for certain providers in these sectors and make awards to learners. We are also responsible for the maintenance, development and review of the NFQ (National Framework of Qualifications).
Qualifications are statements of learning and are increasingly necessary to access employment and further education. With learning and job opportunities available world-wide, it is important that qualifications are recognised universally. External quality assurance ensures this happens. We are committed to excellence in our qualifications and quality assurance services.
In November 2015, we launched our further and higher education and training awards as ‘QQI Award’. This award replaces the ‘FETAC/HETAC – awarded by QQI’ transitional brands.
We have published our second Strategy Statement, which covers the period 2016-2018.Over the next three years we will monitor and review how our strategy is put into practice. We will publish annual reports on our performance.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our work in QQI. If you have any comments or suggestions as to how we might improve our website, please do not hesitate to contact us directly through our QHelp facility.
